Don't buy a storage shed until you read our reviews
Horizontal storage boxes sit between a deck box and a full shed. They hold trash cans, pool chemicals, bikes and long-handled tools in a footprint narrow enough to run along a wall or a fence line. The reviews here cover Suncast and Rubbermaid horizontal models, with notes on lid clearance, floor strength, and whether the doors open wide enough to roll something in rather than lift it over a lip.

The Rubbermaid Large Horizontal Storage Shed (model FG374701) is a 32 cubic foot resin storage box that opens from the top and the front. It is 60 inches wide, 31.9 inches deep and 47 inches tall, so it sits below a 4 ft fence. Rubbermaid pitches it for pool chemicals, cushions, potting soil and garden tools. Amazon lists it as a 5 x 4 ft shed. It has 4.4 out …
The Keter Rockwood is a 150 gallon resin deck box, 61 inches long, with vertical wood-look slats, two pistons that lift the lid, carry handles and a hasp for a padlock. Keter rates the lid to seat two adults, up to 660 lb, and the inside for 165 lb of contents. The brown Rockwood that sold on Amazon is no longer available there, but it earned 4.6 out of 5 …
Suncast no longer makes the GS17500, the 36 cubic foot “Multi-Purpose” storage shed with a split lid. Home Depot lists it as discontinued, and its Amazon listing shows it as unavailable. If you were shopping for one, the closest current Suncast on capacity is the BMS2500 Horizontal Shed at 34 cubic feet. It is a very different shape, though: about 3 feet narrower and a foot taller. This page covers …
The Suncast Glidetop BMS4950 is a low, 98 cubic foot resin shed with a roof that slides back. You open the front doors, slide the lid, and walk in without ducking. At 4 ft 4 in tall, it fits under many windows, behind fences and in yards where a full-height shed would be too much. Owners like it. The real questions are whether your mower fits through a 46.5 inch …
The Suncast GS1000 was a small horizontal shed: 20 cubic feet behind a lift-up lid and two front doors, about 34 inches tall. It snapped together without tools, and owners rated it well. It is also gone. Suncast no longer lists it, and its Amazon listing says it is unavailable with no return date. This review covers what the GS1000 was and the four horizontal sheds Suncast sells now, from …
