The Short Answer
The GS1000 was a well liked, easy to build box for trash bags, cushions and garden tools, but you cannot buy it new. Suncast’s smallest current horizontal shed, the BMS2500, is the closest replacement: the same lid plus front doors layout, 34 cubic feet instead of 20, a reinforced floor and a 10-year warranty. It is also 11.5 inches taller, and its manual requires a foundation. For two large trash carts, step up to the 70 cubic foot Stow-Away. For a mower or bikes, the 98 cubic foot Glidetop.

The GS1000 has 4.2 out of 5 stars from 150 Amazon ratings. Assembly is the most praised topic, with 62 positive mentions, followed by the space inside (30), how well it suits its job (20), access (19), storage capacity (19), value (16) and looks (14). Sturdiness is the one mixed topic, with 38 mentions split between owners who found it solid and those who did not.
Amazon’s listing says assembly takes less than half an hour.

- Not for use by children.
- Do not stand, sit or store items on the top.
- Handle carefully in extreme temperatures, and check regularly that the shed is still level and intact.
- Suncast is not responsible for damage caused by weather or misuse.
The warranty in the manual covered material and workmanship defects present at the time of purchase, for the original buyer, with the part returned to Suncast with proof of purchase. It does not state a number of years, unlike the 10-year limited warranties on Suncast’s current horizontal sheds.

Suncast BMS2500: closest replacement
The same idea as the GS1000, bigger: a lift-up lid on a prop rod, two front doors, and a 3-door locking system that takes one padlock (not included). The floor is reinforced for heavier items, and Suncast suggests trash cans, bikes, garden supplies and snow blowers. Owners on Amazon rate the space highly. The doors are the common complaint: owners say they bow or do not stay shut.
Unlike the GS1000, it needs a foundation. Suncast’s manual calls for a concrete slab at least 4 inches thick or a level platform of pressure-treated 2×6 lumber on deck blocks, with the shed anchored to it, and the warranty requires that foundation. Our BMS2500 page covers it in full.

Suncast BMS3400X: same size, plainer spec
The BMS3400X shares the BMS2500’s size, door opening, assembly manual and 10-year warranty. Suncast’s description of it does not mention the reinforced floor. We did not find it on Amazon, but Home Depot’s BMS3400 listing has 4.2 out of 5 from 986 reviews, and 83% of reviewers recommend it. Suncast Stow-Away BMS4720: for two big trash carts
Suncast says the 70 cubic foot Stow-Away holds two 96 gallon waste carts. The lid lifts on gas shocks, stays open while you use it, and has a soft-close hinge so it does not slam. Two front doors open 63 inches wide, the walls are steel-reinforced multi-wall resin, and it takes a padlock (not included). It has 4.4 out of 5 stars from 217 Amazon ratings. The largest of the four, at 98 cubic feet, and the only one you can walk into: open the front doors, slide the roof back and step in. Which One Should You Buy?
- Replacing a GS1000 for trash bags, cushions or garden tools: the BMS2500. Check that a 45.5 inch tall shed still fits under your window or fence.
- Two full-size trash or recycling carts: the Stow-Away BMS4720.
- A push mower, bikes or long tools: the Glidetop BMS4950.
- No foundation possible: read the manual before you buy. The BMS2500, BMS3400X and Glidetop manuals all call for a foundation, and their warranties depend on it.
