The Short Answer
If you want to hide two wheeled trash carts, buy the Stow-Away BMS4720. If you only have one cart, Suncast’s Single Trash Stow-Away (BMS4000PB) is sized for a single 96 gallon bin. If you are replacing a GS2000, plan for a much bigger box: the Stow-Away is 14.5 inches wider, 4.5 inches deeper and 13 inches taller, and it needs a concrete slab or a wood platform under it.

The lid slopes down toward the front. Suncast’s dimension drawing puts the inside height at 46.25 inches at the front, rising to 48.5 inches at the back.
Will Your Trash Carts Fit?
Suncast says it holds two 96 gallon carts, and the numbers back that up for a typical cart. Toter lists its standard 96 gallon cart at 35.75 inches front to back, 29.75 inches wide and 43.25 inches tall.
- Width: two carts side by side take 59.5 inches. The inside is 65.5 inches wide and the door opening is 63 inches.
- Depth: 35.75 inches of cart in 38 inches of shed.
- Height: 43.25 inches of cart under a 46.25 inch front ceiling and a 46.5 inch door opening.
That leaves 2 to 3 inches to spare in most directions. Carts vary by hauler, and some are taller: Toter’s caster-wheel 96 gallon cart is 46 inches tall, which would be very tight. Measure your own carts, including the handle, before you buy. To open a cart’s lid while it is inside, you will need the shed lid up too, which is what the gas shocks are for.
Owners on Amazon report fitting two 96 gallon cans, and some use it for two adult bikes instead. Suncast also suggests furniture cushions, firewood and garden supplies.
Doors, Lid and Lock
The two front doors open across almost the full width, so carts roll straight in. The lid lifts from the front and is hinged at the back. Gas shocks let you lift it with one hand and hold it open, and the soft-close hinge keeps it from slamming down.
A resin latch holds the doors closed at the bottom, and there is a padlock hasp at the top, where the doors meet the lid. Suncast’s manual calls for a lock with a shackle no thicker than 9/32 inch. It also says that, to keep warranty coverage, the shed should be padlocked with the latches engaged whenever it is not in use. The manual also warns not to stand, sit or store anything on the roof.
Foundation and Anchoring
The Stow-Away needs a proper base. Suncast’s manual requires a square, flat and level foundation, says its warranty depends on it, and gives two options:
- Concrete slab: at least 4 inches thick, with reinforcing bar recommended. Anchor the shed with four 3/8 inch masonry anchors and 1 inch washers.
- Wood platform: exterior-grade wood set on pier blocks or footings. The manual’s plan uses a 44.5 x 69.5 inch deck of 3/4 inch board on a 2×6 frame. Anchor the shed with four 1/4 to 3/8 inch by 3 inch lag screws and 1 inch washers.
Anchoring is required after assembly, and you buy the anchors or lag screws separately. Suncast also says the shed is water resistant, not waterproof, so keep it away from gutters and downspouts and slope the ground away from the base.
Assembly
Suncast’s product page says assembly takes minimal tools, but the manual’s tool list is longer: a drill with a 1/4 inch bit and a #2 Phillips bit, a 7/16 inch socket wrench, a screwdriver, an adjustable wrench, a mallet and a level, plus safety glasses and gloves. A 4 mm hex key is included. Some steps, such as fitting the lid hinges, need a second adult. Build the foundation before you unpack the parts, and do not assemble on a windy day. If you use a power drill, Suncast recommends a cordless drill on its lowest clutch setting, because damage from overtightening is not covered by the warranty.
There are built-in supports for a shelf on the back wall. The manual gives cutting dimensions for a 66.375 inch shelf from 3/4 inch wood, and Suncast lists a BMSASHELFH2 shelf among its compatible accessories.

Suncast’s 2002 listing and the Amazon listing give the GS2000 as 55 x 37 x 39 inches outside and 49 x 31 x 33 inches inside, a little smaller than Suncast’s later page. Either way, the Stow-Away will not drop into a GS2000’s spot. Measure for 70.5 x 43.75 inches plus room to swing the doors, and check for overhangs, because the lid lifts to well above 52 inches.
If You Still Have a GS2000
Suncast’s old GS2000 page now returns “not found”, and its site search finds nothing for the model. The Amazon listing (B000063084) shows it as currently unavailable, with 4.3 out of 5 stars from 54 ratings. Owners there were positive about assembly, function, value and size, and mixed on how well the lid closes.
Suncast once sold GS2000 replacement parts online, from the lid and doors to the prop rod and padlock hasp. We could not find them on Suncast’s current site. If you need a part, Suncast’s customer care line in the manual is 1-800-846-2345, or try support.suncast.com.

The GS2000 is gone, and the Stow-Away BMS4720 is the Suncast to buy in its place. It is far bigger, fits two typical 96 gallon carts with a few inches to spare, and has a gas-shock lid and a 10-year limited warranty.
